6. Finishing the grow-effect

Create a new composition, call it something like "n_final". Place the n_fillin_echo in the timeline. Add the n_outline_animatedmask comp to the timeline, below the fillin_echo-layer. Apply the same echo effect with the exact same settings to that layer. You can also copy and paste the effect. Add a shadow effect to the n_outline_animatedmask-layer with the direction set to 180 degrees. Chose a distance like 4. Set the opacity to 100 and make the shadow color match the outline color. Copy the shadow effect twice and change the distance settings to 8 and 12. These three shadows will create the illusion of a 3D-block (pics 14 and 15).

7. Adding highlights

This already looks quite neat, all thats left to do is to create the highlights.
Duplicate the n_fill-in_echo-layer. Rename the first (lower) layer to something like "highlights" and the top one to something like "fillin". To the lower layer (highlights) apply an adjust-effect to change the fill-in to pure white. There are various effects that will get the job done, it doesn`t really matter which one you chose. Move the top layer one, two or three pixels to the left (depending on how big your letters are). It will reveal the white from the layer below, thus creating the effect of highlights (pic 16).
But the top layers left border is now too far to the left, so add the n-fill-in-layer from the illustrator file and use that as a track-matte for the "fillin"-layer. You should now have 4 layers like in pic 17. Make the "fillin"-layer start one frame later and you will have the effect from pic 18.
